Beginning Aug. 29, an upgraded version of the ArmyIgnitED portal will go online to provide Soldiers, education counselors, and academic institutions a smoother and more reliable experience for processing Army Tuition Assistance Requests.

The Army is improving ArmyIgnitED by transferring it to a new technology provider through the cooperative efforts of the Army’s Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) and the Army Credentialing and Continuing Education Services for Soldiers (ACCESS). ACCESS falls under Army University and Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

“Our Soldiers deserve a reliable system that allows them to continue their education,” said Col. Julia Bell, Director of ACCESS, “The Army is committed to getting this right. The progress we’ve made reflects our collective commitment across the Army and industry to deliver a dependable software solution for our Soldiers’ tuition assistance needs.”

PEO EIS, which now manages this process, is improving the ArmyIgnitED portal by migrating it to technology that has proven its reliability over years of use in U.S. Air Force education.

Today, Soldiers, Army education counselors, and academic institutions will receive information about coming upgrades to ArmyIgnitED, as well as tip sheets with detailed instructions on how to get started as phase one of this process begins. These updates include where to go for the ArmyIgnitED portal which moves from armyignited.com to armyignited.army.mil.

Soldiers can access the upgraded ArmyIgnitED portal on Aug. 29 for Tuition Assistance. Soldiers’ first actions will be to:

  1. Create an Account
  2. Submit an Education Goal
  3. Upload Evaluated Degree Plan

Education Counselors across the Army have been provided information on assisting Soldiers to take these steps.

The overall upgrades to ArmyIgnitED will arrive in three phases. The first starts Aug. 29, improves the TA process for Soldiers and will process outstanding and new Soldier tuition reimbursements and payments.

Phase two is planned for the first quarter of FY23 and will allow Army cadets to request Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship funding and Soldiers to apply for funding for credentialing assistance, a program that enables them to obtain a civilian credential or licensure to enhance their careers.

Phase three is expected in the third quarter of FY23 at which point the system will achieve its full operational capability. This will allow Army Civilians to request professional development funds and include some final tailoring to the portal based on Army requirements.

“The Army will continue to fine-tune processes, improve systems, and identify product enhancements with the best technologies available, to provide Soldiers, Cadets and Civilians a clear path to education,” said Keith Baylor, the product lead responsible for managing the transition and technical upgrades.
